Derick Dillard Responds to Comment About His New Braces-Free Smile: ‘Midline Issues Are From the Surgery’
Say cheese! Derick Dillard recently debuted his brand new smile after having braces on for “more than four long years.” When the reality star posted a throwback photo to his Instagram page this week, one fan asked why his teeth are no longer in the midline and Derick responded.
Jill Duggar’s husband, Derick, 30, appeared to be having a blast while hanging out with their son Israel in the playful snaps. “Had a fun time the other day helping raise awareness for Alzheimer’s at our friends’ event,” the photos were captioned and some of his followers took notice that his braces were still on. “I’m so confused why his teeth are moving sideways,” another comment read.
“This is from last week. I just got them off at the end of the week,” the Counting On alum clarified. Derick also responded to the inquiry about his appearance. “The midline issues are from the surgery by accident,” he responded to the follow-up question. “Nothing we can do about it now :/.”
In March 2019, the Duggar Family blog shared a post about Derick’s braces and orthodontic work to answer any questions. “Derick chose to have braces put on his teeth four years ago because his doctor recommended it, but jaw expansion surgery was a prerequisite in order to make room in his mouth. Unfortunately, the surgery moved his midline over, which means that his top two front teeth are no longer centered, and fixing them is likely not worth the hassle,” the post explained.
Derick proudly showed off his pearly whites in new photos posted to Jill’s page on June 25 during their romantic weekend together in Branson, Missouri, to celebrate their five-year anniversary. “We stayed at a bed and breakfast, then hung out at Silver Dollar City part of the time and saw our friends @southernraisedbandmusic perform,” the former 19 Kids and Counting star wrote. Derick’s mom watched the kids for the weekend, so the couple definitely enjoyed some alone time!
