After Demi Lovato’s friend Thomas Trussell III passed away from an overdose, the singer got a new tattoo in his honor. “A T for Tommy,” she captioned a photo of her new ink — the letter T in a cursive font — on Monday, October 14. “Love you forever, @sirtruss. Thank you for the ink, @rafael_valdez. It’s beautiful, and I’m so grateful for this.”

Of course, fans couldn’t help but leave some kind messages for the 27-year-old pop star in the comments section. One person wrote, “Praying for you and his family! Stay strong,” while another echoed, “Your soul is beautiful.” A third person chimed in, writing, “You are such an incredible person and friend.”

Almost one week ago, the brunette beauty revealed the sad news about her pal on Instagram Story. “Devastated. Please hold your loved ones tight,” she captioned a photo of the 31-year-old model on October 9. “Tell them they are special and that you love them. Make sure they know it. RIP to my boo @sirtruss.”

Demi added, “Addiction is NO joke. Heaven gained this beautiful angel last night because of that terrible disease. I’m crushed and will always miss you @sirtruss. If you or someone you know is struggling, please know it’s OK to ask for help.”

The “Sorry Not Sorry” crooner has been vocal about her sobriety — especially after her near-fatal overdose in July 2018 where she was found unconscious at her Hollywood home. The Grammy nominee stayed in the hospital for nearly two weeks before she checked herself into rehab.

Despite the setback, Demi is “doing great,” these days, a source exclusively told In Touch. “She’s writing songs, working out, meditating and just filling her path, and of course, being sober,” they revealed. “She feels like her last relapse was an eye-opener and a reminder that she needs to stay diligent and work her sobriety program.”

Even though the Texas native made headlines for going on a date with Bachelor star Mike Johnson, the insider insisted that she is taking time to heal. “Demi is working on herself, there’s no room for any serious relationships right now,” the source said. “Dating isn’t a priority. She and Henri Levi are just friends right now, and no, she’s not dating Mike. Boyfriends take time and relationships are hard work. She has plenty of time for that later. It’s about being present, writing songs and taking it slow. She’s in an amazing place right now.” Sure sounds like it!

We are thinking of Demi during this difficult time.
