Demi Lovato Defies Beauty ‘Standards’ By Posting Unedited Bikini Photo: ‘Here’s Me, Raw, Real’
She’s conquering her fears. Demi Lovato posted a fierce new bikini-clad photo on Thursday, September 5, with a powerful message. The “Confident” songstress explained how she was ready to defy conventional beauty standards by embracing her body the way it looks. Demi admitted to altering her pics before, but now she’s ready to get real.
“This is my biggest fear. A photo of me in a bikini unedited. And guess what, it’s CELLULIT!!!! I’m just literally sooooo tired of being ashamed of my body, editing it (yes the other bikini pics were edited — and I hate that I did that but it’s the truth) so that others think I’m THEIR idea of what beautiful is, but it’s just not me,” Demi, 27, captioned her Instagram photo. “This is what I got.”
“I want this new chapter in my life to be about being authentic to who I am rather than trying to meet someone else’s standards,” she continued. “So here’s me, unashamed, unafraid and proud to own a body that has fought through so much and will continue to amaze me when I hopefully give birth one day.”
Demi also mentioned how it’s great to be back on her work grind while not stressing out over a rigid “workout schedule before 14 hour days,” or depriving herself from delicious foods because she was on “some crazy diet.”
“Anyway, here’s me, RAW, REAL! And I love me,” she concluded. “And you should love you too! Now back to the studio … I’m working on an anthem … 🙏🏼🙌🏼🤷🏻♀️ also. Just so everyone’s clear … I’m not stoked on my appearance BUT I am appreciative of it and sometimes that’s the best I can do. I hope to inspire someone to appreciate their body today too.”
And that’s not all! Bachelorette star Mike Johnson even left a sweet remark on her bikini snap, shortly after the two sparked romance rumors. “Look at me like that again,” he wrote, while adding a winking emoii. “Love yaself.”
As fans may recall, Demi recently skipped the 2019 MTV VMAs, however the songstress did reveal that she was working on a secretive project that she is excited to share down the line. Demi last dropped an album Tell Me You Love Me back in 2017, prior to her apparent overdose in the summer of 2018 — and luckily, she’s got some “fire” coming soon!
We can’t wait to hear her new music!
