There’s no better way to start off a new school year than by wearing an outfit that makes you feel amazing. When Teen Mom 2 star Chelsea Houska sent her daughter Aubree off to elementary school wearing a fabulous look, they both thought she was in for a good day, but it didn’t take long for Instagram trolls to start tearing them down. After the 27-year-old mom posted the photo of her 9-year-old daughter to the social media site, commenters were quick to call out the looks as totally inappropriate. For the most part, Chelsea is one of the Teen Mom stars who get the least amount of hate. After she eventually broke up with ex Adam Lind and moved on to husband Cole DeBoer, fans praised her for her healthy dating habits.

They also love the family that she started with Cole, 31. In addition to Aubree, Chelsea’s daughter with Adam, they share two more kids: toddler Watson, 2, and baby Layne, 11 months.

When the family has drama on the show, it’s usually because it comes from issues with the star’s ex or the usually ups and downs that come with life, like Watson’s health problems.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that Chelsea is immune to the mommy shaming that it seems like all celebrities face. Though she seems to have more lovers than haters, the parenting police come for her, too.

Inappropriate Outfit

This time, they were calling out the mom of three for letting her eldest go to school wearing hoop earrings after Chelsea posted a photo on social media.

Too Mature

“OK, what the heck. She can stop looking so grown up now,” the Teen Mom star captioned the pic posted Tuesday, August 20. “😭 She was OBSESSED with these earrings and wanted to wear lipstick this morning. Where’d my baby go?!”

Backlash

Though we think Aubree looks adorable, some fans agreed that the 9-year-old looked seriously grown up — but not in a good way. “[She’s] too young for those earrings,” one wrote on the photo.

Grown Girl

“Beautiful, but the earrings have to go,” agreed another. “She’s still little.” A third responded, “My daughter is 12 and asks to wear my hoop earrings all the time or if I could buy her some. The answer? HELL no. [She’s] too young.”

Others called out the fact that Aubree wanted to wear lipstick, though if she actually ended up wearing any in the photo, it ended up being a sweet, neutral shade.

“Lipstick to school? Nope. That look [is] for dress up only, but not in public and definitely not too school,” commented one parent. “Lipstick? Wow, too young,” added another.

Mommy Rules

Most of the shade was for Chelsea, who fans criticized for letting Aubree wear what she wanted instead of laying down the law. “She still is your baby. You can say no to the lipstick and earrings,” one wrote.

“Why are parents afraid to be parents?” an Instagram user asked. “Most parents want to be ‘friends’!!! You’re their parents first!!!”

Safety Concerns

Beyond the fact that fans dubbed the earrings inappropriate, though, others expressed some legitimate worries. “They’re way to big for a girl that still plays on the playground,” fretted a commenter. “[That’s a] good way to have [them] ripped out.”

Luckily, some recognized how adorable Aubree looked — and pointed out the fact that, freak accidents aside, a few accessories never hurt anybody. “All these people making a fuss over some earrings. Like there aren’t bigger problems in the world,” one fan wrote.

A couple fans even had a little fun with the situation. “😂😂😂 Is there an age requirement on JEWELRY?” teased one fan, with another adding, “OK, grandma.”

Chelsea didn’t seem to be sweating the hate, though, and didn’t let any of the comments get to her or Aubree. Though Teen Mom stars can be famous for their clap backs, this mama didn’t let the shade stop her from shining.
