Teen Mom’s Catelynn and Tyler Still Support Butch Amid Relapse: ‘We Will Always Love Him’

Tough Times

It’s been an ongoing battle. In 2018, Butch, 57, was celebrating because he had reached a sobriety milestone, but he sadly later succumbed to his vices this year. 

Giving an Update

“He’s in the middle of relapse right now. So that’s the reality of that situation,” Tyler, 27, revealed to fellow Teen Mom star Kailyn Lowry and Lindsie Chrisley on their podcast “Coffee Convos” in June.

One Day at a Time

“So right now, now we go back to square one of this whole relapse thing and kind of ride this train out and see what happens,” the MTV alum continued.

Proud Brother Moment

On the bright side, Tyler also mentioned how his sister had been making progress at the time, shortly after he visited Amber in Texas to give her a one-year sobriety chip.

Showing Support

The reality star dad has been rooting on his loved ones throughout their struggles. Back in January, he took to Instagram with a heartwarming message.

Overcome With Emotion

“Writing this with tears in my eyes because words can’t express the amount of peace & joy I feel in my heart. After seeing these two at their lowest & now seeing them sober & steadily climbing, I just can’t say enough how proud I am of both of them!” Tyler captioned a photo on Instagram.

Bright Future

“I am a firm believer that the power of unconditional love in a family can truly transform the dynamic & I’m just so happy to call these two my family,” the TMOG star continued. “I love you both SO MUCH & I’m SO PROUD OF YOU!!! @xoambularxo @baltierramtv.”

Keeping It Real

While chatting with In Touch exclusively, Catelynn, 27, gave an update about her father-in-law. “As of now he is stating that he is sober … which I hope he is but who knows,” she shared.

Reaching Out

As far as their communication goes, the reality star said they talk once in a while. “We text him every so often to tell him we love him and are thinking of him but that’s about it,” Catelynn said.

Reuniting With Loved Ones

“Our kids don’t really have a relationship with him because for one he lives so far away,” the former 16 and Pregnant star added. “If we did see him he would be able to see the girls as long as we are with them.”

Making Strides

Catelynn also revealed that she couldn’t be more thrilled about Amber’s progress. “Amber is still sober and doing amazing,” the reality star told In Touch exclusively. 

Ongoing Battle

“She worries a lot about her dad, but I try and tell her that she cannot take his sobriety on herself that it’s up to him and she can love him from a distance,” Catelynn said. “She loves her dad.”

Looking Ahead

When it comes to the future, Catelynn said she’s keeping her hopes up for Butch, explaining, “I think it’s sad that he always relapses. I hope and pray that one day he will he clean and stay clean forever.”

Family First

“I think that we both love Butch very much, but he’s an adult and has to make his own decisions and live with whatever he chooses,” Catelynn concluded. “We will always love him and be here for him.”
