Below Deck’s Hannah Ferrier Thanks Fans for Supporting Her New Business After Being Fired
They have her back. Below Deck Mediterranean alum Hannah Ferrier thanked her fans for supporting her new yachting school business after she was fired from the superyacht on the Monday, August 17, episode of the Bravo show.
“Thank you, guys, so much for your support — it means the WORLD to me,” Hannah wrote on a screenshot of her business, Ocean International Training Academy’s Instagram page on Tuesday, August 18. She highlighted the company’s growing following by drawing a pink heart around their 10,000 followers.
The chief stew — who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Josh — announced the launch of her new endeavor, in addition to her podcast “Dear Diary You’re Effed,” the same night her dramatic exit aired. Fans saw Captain Sandy Yawn dismiss the blonde beauty after bosun Malia White reported her bunkmate for having prescription valium and CBD oil.
While viewers slammed the show for seemingly shading Hannah’s anxiety, according to maritime law, prescriptions that can impair one’s judgment are illegal on board unless they are registered.
Sandy explained her decision to let Hannah go wasn’t just based off this one incident. “What I noticed with Hannah was a behavior change that was unlike any other,” she said on the Below Deck aftershow. “If I took her to sea knowing all of this, it’s gross negligence on my part.”
Following the episode, Hannah is disappointed she is “being painted as some sort of drug addict,” she told Decider. “There are so many people in the world that suffer from mental illness. And it’s 2020. We shouldn’t be making people feel like a lesser for taking medication for mental illness. Or making them feel like they can’t do a job, or they can’t do what normal people can do.”
Although Hannah wishes she could have left the franchise on a high note, she is excited to be moving on to the next chapter in her life. “A career in yachting, for my position, is never something I wanted to do since I started in this industry at 22 years old,” she told In Touch in June. “I want a family, I want to settle down.”
