We hope everything is okay. Ariana Grande has really been through some difficult times over the last couple of years, but she’s always been very open and honest about her struggles and how they’ve affected her. The 25-year-old took to Instagram to share a quote about depression from one of her favorite actors Jim Carrey and seemed to hint that she agrees with his views on mental health.

“Depression is your body saying, ‘I don’t want to be this character anymore. I don’t want to hold up this avatar that you’ve created in the world. It’s too much for me,'” the quote read. “You should think of the word ‘depressed’ as ‘deep rest.’ Your body needs to be depressed. It needs deep rest from the character that you’ve been trying to play.”

Grande went on to explain her love of the Bruce Almighty star, but she didn’t divulge any more details about her own thoughts on depression. She did share a cryptic poem but an unknown author that read: “I measure time by the days I have spent away from you that thought occurred to me as I watched the sky go dark from blue.”

The second message seemed to be about missing someone or something, and it’s been pretty evident that the “No Tears Left to Cry” singer is missing her late boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller. Miller and Grande had been friends since 2013, and they didn’t start dating until August 2016. They dated for nearly two years before they split in May 2018, just after they attended the 2018 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival together. Just four months later, Miller passed away after suffering a drug overdose in September 2018.

Now, nearly seven months after his death, Ariana is still continuing to pay tribute to Miller. After her debut performance at the 2019 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on Sunday, April 14, she changed into a comfy, oversized black and yellow Pittsburgh Steelers jersey — Miller’s beloved hometown football team.
