Speak out! At a United Nations event held on Friday, March 29, Angelina Jolie did her part to help spread awareness about equality for women. The superstar is a special envoy for for the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR, or the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The star showed up for a special reason.

She was in New York to attend a meeting of the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial: Uniformed Capabilities, Performance and Protection. But she wasn’t just watching the meeting — she gave the keynote speech.

She was there to talk about women.

According to USA Today, she emphasized how “women and girls are still the majority of the victims of war,” warning that that fact contributes to a larger cycle of violence in the world.

She had her notes down.

According to the star, if countries don’t start prioritizing women’s rights, they “will remain stuck in a cycle of violence and conflicts.” She continued, “Denying half a population representation in peace negotiations or in government is not the route to long-term stability.”

She wanted to empower other women.

“Abuse of power, gender bias, violence and lack of justice” have so far disempowered women, she argued — and she wants to change that going forward. In a world where those harmed by issues were able to address them, “the majority of the world’s peace negotiators, foreign ministers and diplomats would be women.”

She commanded everyone’s attention.

But the star is used to having every eye in the room on her. Ever since entering Hollywood at a young age, she’s been living her life in the public eye, and now she’s raising her kids in it, too.

Recently, she took her kids out.

She stepped out at the Dumbo premiere in Los Angeles, California, on March 11 with children, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 10. They were all smiles on the red carpet.

She’s also got a new movie in the works.

On March 6, Disney dropped the poster for Maleficient: Mistress of Evil, the sequel to the 2014 flick that starred her as the evil queen and Elle Fanning as Aurora.

But she’s still all about her family.

In early March, a source told In Touch that “her focus is 100 percent on her children, and they love it.” After a contentious custody battle, the insider reported that “she’s never been more relaxed and at ease. It’s like she’s a whole new person.”

She wants to give her kids everything.

“Angie knows how blessed she is to be able to show her kids the world,” the source continued. “Her hope is that they grow up to be caring individuals who want to make the world a better place.”

She won’t have forever with them.

“She sees how quickly they’re growing up. Maddox driving and wanting to get his own place — that pretty much slapped her into reality. … She wants to be there for them and cherish every second.”

She’s living her best life.

“She’s meditating more than ever and spending time with friends she trusts and, of course, the kids. Angie is in a really good place right now,” the source said — and it’s clear in her home and work life.

She’s pretty much killing it.

And by setting such an incredible example for her children, they’re sure to become the confident, caring adults she’s raising them to be. Kudos are in order for Angelina. This woman’s doing it all.
