Things may be complicated with her son, but Amber Portwood isn’t letting anything stand in the way of her relationship with her daughter. On Tuesday, November 12, the Teen Mom OG star took to Instagram to shower Leah Shirley with love. Celebrating her daughter’s 11th birthday, the mom wrote a very sweet and special message.

“Happy 11th birthday, my beautiful girl!!!” Amber, 29, wrote on the social media site. “I love our hugs. I love our kisses, and I love singing together while looking into each other’s eyes. I love how you make me feel every time I see you. I love the text messages we send of funny gifs and when you say goodnight but keep texting emojis. But what I love most of all is when you tell me, ‘I love you, Mommy,’ and I say, ‘I love you, too, beautiful.’ You are everything and more. Happy birthday, my beautiful girl with the ‘ocean eyes.'”

Though Leah lives primarily with her dad, Gary Shirley, it seems she’s been a comfort to her mom during the star’s legal battle. In August, Amber revealed that spending time with her daughter made her feel better after losing temporary custody of her son following her domestic violence altercation with ex Andrew Glennon. Sharing photos of herself and her daughter, the mother of two captioned the pictures, “Just missing one beautiful little man. 🙏 However, this beauty put a smile on my face as always. 🙏❤”

The last time the MTV mama got to be with both of her kiddos was prior to her domestic battery arrest in July. Just days before, she shared a throwback photo of her two children playing. “When bubby gave Leah a kiss on his birthday, ugh, [it] melted my heart,” she wrote in a July 1 post. Since then, the mom’s visits with her son have been few and far between. Recently, she even claimed in court that Andrew, 35, has been refusing to let her see James.

While talking exclusively with In Touch, Andrew denied those claims. “There is no denying of any visitations,” he said. “My attorney has been in touch with her attorney, and papers have been filed that will help to get this process moving. … I want her to see James. I saw what keeping Leah did to her, and I swore that would not happen.”
