He pulled a Trey! 90 Day Fiancé fans were like “LOL wut” when Karine Martins revealed that she wanted to immediately start a family with her fiancé Paul Staehle during this week’s episode, and there are many reasons as to why that probably isn’t the best idea. Even Paul agreed that it wasn’t the right timing for them to have a baby, so he decided to gift Karine the next best thing — a baby doll, which is almost exactly like a Sex and the City storyline, TBH. Watch the video above to see how it all played out.

The sentiment was eerily similar to the one that fictional character Trey MacDougal had when his wife at the time, Sex and the City character Charlotte York, found out that they would not be able to conceive naturally. Sensing that his wife was upset because she really wanted to have a baby, he brought home a cardboard cut-out of a baby to cheer her up — but Charlotte felt it was extremely insensitive, and an argument ensued.

It’s unclear how Karine reacted to Paul’s gift, but one thing is for sure — the 21-year-old definitely didn’t want a baby for the right reasons. After the couple toured a possible venue for their wedding in Brazil, she pulled Paul aside to talk about their future.

“I want to start a family. If we have a child, our relationship will be much stronger and we will stop fighting,” she said. Karine explained in her confessional that Karine hoped to apply for a spousal visa after she marries Paul in Brazil, but that can take a long time to process and she was worried that he would have to return to the United States without her, and she was worried that she would “lose” him. “I want to have a baby now so that would make Paul keep his commitment,” she explained.
