A Red Carpet to Remember! See the Best Looks From the 2019 Emmy Awards

Came to slay! The 2019 Emmy Awards on September 22 marked the biggest night in television. Stars like Bethenny Frankel, Milo Ventimiglia and Kristin Cavallari stepped out in their glitziest looks with high hopes of winning a coveted award, while others attended to cheer on some of the talented actors and actresses who have made an impact this year. The show, which aired on Fox, took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and surprisingly, there was no host to be found.

Much like the 2019 Oscars, the Emmys opted to go hostless. Their decision stemmed from wanting more time to highlight some of the great series that wrapped this year. Charlie Collier, CEO of Fox Entertainment, explained their desire to “elevate the program” at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on August 7, as reported by Entertainment Tonight.

“What’s interesting about this year to me is how many amazing shows we’re saying goodbye to. You’ve got Game of Thrones, our own Empire, Veep and Big Bang Theory,” he acknowledged. “You really do have to look at all the trade-offs. If you have a host and an opening number, that’s 15, 20 minutes you can’t use to [honor] the shows … We will go hostless this year, and I think it will give us more time to honor those shows.”

Show producer Guy Carrington further noted during an interview with Variety at the beginning of September that a host can sometimes serve as a distraction. “We had a discussion very early about getting into the awards as quickly as possible. You have a host, and it can be a bit hit or miss … We’re there to celebrate the content and the people who make it. We made a conscious effort to focus on that,” he divulged.

There is some stiff competition among the categories this year and everyone has a fair chance at winning. The shows nominated for Outstanding Drama Series are: Better Call Saul, Bodyguard, Game of Thrones, Killing Eve, Ozark, Pose, Succession and This Is Us.

As for Outstanding Comedy Series, the list is equally enticing. The nominees are: Veep, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Barry, The Good Place, Fleabag, Russian Doll and Schitt’s Creek.

Good luck to all the nominees. Keep scrolling to see the best looks from the red carpet!
