On Wednesday, April 10, Wendy Williams filed for divorce from her husband of 21 years, Kevin Hunter. Of course, it’s going to be an adjustment period for the talk show host, but luckily, she has some close friends and family to lean on. But who exactly is in Wendy’s family?

Wendy grew up in in Asbury Park, New Jersey, with her mom, Shirley Williams, her dad, Thomas Williams Sr., her older sister, Wanda Williams and little brother, Thomas Williams Jr. — whom she refers to as Tommy.

It seems like the Dancing With the Stars alum, 54, has a good relationship with her mom, as she gave her a sweet shout-out last May. “Happy #MothersDay to all the wonderful moms out there, especially mine!” she captioned a photo of herself with her mama at the time. The New Jersey native also posted about her father in honor of Father’s Day. “Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there, especially mine!” she wrote. Currently, her parents live in Florida.

Her mom also filled in as her surprise co-host in February 2012 and gushed about her daughter. “I always thought that Wendy was a natural talker. As we got older, our relationship has become closer, and we find that we have many, many similarities. We never thought that we have so much in common, but now we see it, and appreciate it as we get older. It’s wonderful that her father and I are able to enjoy this wonderful, wonderful experience that she is having,” she said.

Meanwhile, it’s unclear what exactly her siblings do for a living, but they seem to be close. Wendy posted a picture of the three of them together on her Twitter page in April 2017.

Wendy and her soon to be ex-husband share one son, Kevin Hunter Jr. Apparently, it wasn’t easy for the fashion designer to get pregnant right away. “I fought tooth and nail to be a mother,” she said during an appearance on American Masters: The Women’s List. “I suffered several miscarriages including two at five months. That’s when you have the clothes already picked out, the nursery is already painted. They ask you do you want a funeral, or do you want the cremation.” The author gave birth to her son on August 18, 2000. “I would’ve loved to have had more children, but I don’t want to test my blessing,” she said.

Even though Wendy loves being a mom, there was a scary incident that occurred in July 2018 where he experimented with drugs. “I was horrified,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “My son became someone I didn’t even know.”

Wendy has been dealing with some addiction issues of her own. She recently revealed that she is living in a sober house and detailed her daily routine for her viewers. “After I finished my appointments, I am driven by my 24-hour sober coach back to the home that I live in — here in the tri-state — with a bunch of smelly boys who have become my family,” she explained. “They hog the TV and watch soccer, we talk and read and talk and read, and then I get bored with them. Doors are locked by 10 p.m. Lights out by 10 p.m. So, I go to my room, and I stare at the ceiling, and I fall asleep to wake up and come back here to see you. So, that is my truth.”

The personal representative for Wendy Williams released a statement to In Touch after the news broke. “Thank you to everyone for respecting the family’s privacy during this time. Kevin is supportive of Wendy, and they are working through this process together. No additional comment will be provided at this time,” they said.

We’re thinking of Wendy during this difficult time.
