It’s been more than four years since Tom Cruise has seen his youngest child, daughter Suri Cruise. And as you can imagine, he’s missed a lot in her young life, considering four years can bring about a lot of change for anyone, but it’s especially monumental when the person in question is only 11 years old.

To this day, the 55-year-old won’t say why he hasn’t seen his daughter in almost half a decade, but many speculate it’s because she and her mother, Katie Holmes, left the Church of Scientology and therefore both were labeled “suppressive people.” In the church, a “suppressive person” — also labeled an “SP” — is someone who left the church, and is considered a threat to the religion as they get in the way of “spiritual progress.”
