Sterling K. Brown (who plays adult Randall) shot down one popular fan theory — that his death is related to 9/11. Though the timing would be slightly off, he reassured fans that isn’t the case, saying his death occurs “in Pittsburgh.”

The Stars Have Their Own Theories

While the cast does know how the death actually happens, they didn’t shy away from sharing their craziest theories!

Chris Sullivan believes Jack is alive — just living in Cuba, while Justin Hartley (adult Kevin) thinks he’s off “raising Miguel’s kids,” Miguel being, of course, Jack’s best friend who later marries his wife, Rebecca (Mandy Moore). Miguel himself, aka Jon Huertas, even joked that Miguel kills Jack.
