The ‘Teen Mom OG’ Cast Is Still Figuring Life Out — See Them Then vs. Now

If you’ve read celeb magazines at any point over the past decade, you’ve likely heard about Farrah and her XXX track record! But first, a little about her backstory: Farrah became a Teen Mom at the age of 17 in 2009 when she gave birth to Sophia Laurent Abraham. Tragically, Sophia’s father and Farrah’s baby daddy, Derek Underwood, died in a car crash just two months before Sophia’s birth.

After this girl from Council Bluffs, IA, found fame on 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom, she released a debut studio album and a memoir (both titled My Teenage Dream Ended, depressingly), got an associate degree in culinary arts from Florida’s Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, and launched a “Mom & Me” pasta sauce line.

In 2013, Vivid Entertainment released a “leaked” sex tape of Farrah and professional porn star James Deen, which she claims she sold to the company for $1.5 million. (By the way, we’ve got the intel if you wanna know how much the Teen Mom cast gets paid.)

Amid fan outcry, Farrah defended her X-rated decision. “You have been a single mom for four years, off-and-on, dating loser-ass boys who always try and sell information, lie to you, manipulate you,” she explained in a Keek video. “You have just realized you are an awesome person and you deserve someone. Now that you’re 21, you’ve pretty much been crying every night because you are single and alone. So, you make your own video, celebrate your awesome body [and] get your own sexy shots.”

FYI, Farrah has spent a lot of money maintaining that “awesome body” — she went under the knife for a nose job, and suffered through an unfortunate reaction to lip injections. See her and the rest of the Teen Mom cast before and after plastic surgery.

Farrah has also starred on Couples Therapy — famously appearing on the show with her mother instead of a significant other — as well as Celebrity Big Brother and Marriage Boot Camp. But, Teen Mom will always be the 26-year-old’s home base!

Maci Bookout

Like Farrah, Maci is another Teen Mom with an Associate of Arts degree. After growing up in Chattanooga, TN, Maci graduated from high school in 2010 and community college in 2015.

In that time frame, of course, Maci became a bonafide MTV star. She welcomed her first child, son Bentley Cadence Edwards, in 2008. Bentley’s father is Maci’s ex, Ryan Edwards, whom she got engaged to in 2009, but they broke up the following year. Her relationship with Kyle King was equally doomed.

But, third time’s the charm, apparently, since she seems to have found her happily ever after with motocross racer Taylor McKinney. Maci and Taylor welcomed daughter Jayde Carter McKinney in 2015 and son Maverick Reed McKinney in 2016. They also tied the knot that year.

That was a busy time for the happy couple, but Maci shows no signs of slowing down. She’s a public speaker and a published author. The 26-year-old has released two books — Bulletproof and I Wasn’t Born Bulletproof: Lessons I’ve Learned (So You Don’t Have To), so she’s no doubt pulling in a nice income. Catelynn Baltierra

After becoming a Teen Mom in 2009, Catelynn and her former stepbrother-turned-husband) Tyler Baltierra made the excruciating choice to put daughter Carly up for adoption after deciding they weren’t in a position to raise a child. But, as we saw in Season 7, Catelynn and Tyler have been able to reunite with the little girl, and their second daughter, three-year-old Novalee “Nova” Reign, got to tag along.

The reunion was exciting for Catelynn, but also bittersweet, Tyler told a Teen Mom producer. “She was saying after raising Nova, she’s actually feeling that love you have for your kid, and after seeing [Carly and Nova] together she said it was really hard [to leave Carly],” he explained. “She said it just sucks — it sucks that we were so young, and it sucks that our parents sucked. We were little kids.”

“It’s just about the what-ifs,” Catelynn later shared. “Seeing them together, I could tell [Carly] misses us. She asked her mom if she could ride with us and she told her, ‘No.’ It’s just stupid s–t like that [that bothers me].”

After working through some relationship troubles, as documented on Couples Therapy, Catelynn, 25, and Tyler, 26, got married in 2015. And not for nothing, Cate is one of the Teen Mom cast members to flaunt an impressive weight loss. Though she's in rehab at the moment for "trauma," we're confident the reality star will pull through this dark period.

Amber Portwood

Of all the Teen Mom OG women, Amber may have had the toughest time of it. She had a tumultuous and sometimes violent relationship with Gary Shirley — the father of her first child, Leah Leann Shirley — leading to a 2010 arrest for domestic violence. In 2012, she was sent to prison for five years after violating her drug court probation requirements, but was released after just one year.

She then got engaged to Matt Baier, now 46, though it turned out he had children with multiple women and had fallen behind on his child support payments. They broke up in 2017 while filming Marriage Boot Camp, and he has since married someone else.

But it’s not all bad news: The 27-year-old is now in a relationship with Andrew Glennon, and they’re expecting a baby boy together. We hope this is her happily ever after!
