Reflecting. Real Housewives of New Jersey star Joe Giudice shared a message with fans while taking a look back at his “failed” marriage with estranged wife, Teresa Giudice. Joe seemed to blame editing for the way he was “portrayed” as a husband, and revealed his positive outlook for the future for his family.

“No matter how much [100 points emoji] energy and time I devoted to trying, it failed,” the 47-year-old wrote in his caption on Instagram. “I did my best and put all efforts into making this a great experience for my family. I did try to address issues in the relationship that bothered me throughout the years in return, [camera emoji] portrayed it as criticism! My key role was to always to be a great father and husband not the [man supervillain emoji].”

Even though Joe seemed to be unhappy with the way his marriage looked on TV, he is choosing to stay positive as he moves forward. “Today I [eyes emoji], I can’t allow others to keep lingering toxins and undesirable demands around me. I choose to have a solid foundation with strong and inspiring people around me in [Italian flag emoji],” he added.

Fans watched as Joe and Teresa, 47, and their four daughters reunited for the first time outside of the prison system in about four years in Italy on the season finale of RHONJ. In March 2019, Joe completed his 41-month prison sentence for mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud charges. Because he is not an American citizen, he was immediately transferred to ICE custody. In October 2019, a judge granted his request to return to his native home of Italy, where he will remain until a verdict is reached.

While the reunion was a positive one for Joe and his girls, he had an awkward moment with Teresa on their first night together in Italy. Joe wanted to sleep with Teresa in her bed at their hotel, but Teresa was not ready to be so intimate with her husband.

“Joe, listen, we haven’t been together in almost four years so it’s like kinda weird, right? I don’t know, it’s been a long time, you know? You need to like, slow it down,” she told him.

Joe respected Teresa’s wishes and he even seemed hopeful for their relationship. “Listen, by the end of this trip, things could change. Who the hell knows,” he said as he left. But on the last night of their trip, Joe and Teresa came to the mutual decision to split.
