Just when we thought Prince Harry couldn’t possibly make enemies! On Wednesday, April 3, the red-headed royal, 34, revealed how he felt about Fortnite, and erm, it didn’t go down very well with gamers.

“A game like Fortnite, for instance, may not be so good for children,” the soon-to-be dad expressed during a visit to the YMCA in London. “Parents have got their hands up — they don’t know what to do about it. It’s like waiting for the damage to be done and kids turning up on your doorsteps and families being broken. That game shouldn’t be allowed.” He then asked, “Where is the benefit having that game in your household? It’s created to addict, an addiction to keep you in front of a computer for as long as possible. It’s so irresponsible.” Yiiiikes.

Needless to say, it didn’t take long for the Twittersphere to erupt with comments. “Prince Harry claiming Fortnite should be banned as it’s too addictive? Sorry but some people like games for escapism, relaxation and enjoyment. Not everyone has the means to go wherever, whenever they want, so [they] rely on other means,” one user fumed.

Damn. OK, OK. Next:

“It’s irresponsible to talk about something when you have little to no knowledge and can’t present a balanced view,” another added, while a third chimed in, “Prince Harry should keep his nose out. Stick to brutally shooting animals and let us continue to not harm anybody while playing , please. Sticky fricking beak.” Jeez.

There was at least one person, however, who was on his side. “Can someone who games help me to understand what the positive impact of gaming is on lives? I’m totally with Prince Harry on this — ban Fortnite and look at [the] wider impact of gaming and social media on health.”

The Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle — who recently joined Instagram — are set to give birth this spring. And while we don’t know many things about where they stand on various aspects of parenting, one thing’s for sure: They won’t be getting their baby Fortnite for Christmas!
