His time behind bars is almost over. Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino will soon be released from Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in New York and sent to a halfway house, where he will be bound by some “strict” rules.

“Mike is getting released to a federal halfway house and there is no partying or drinking allowed,” federal prison consultant Dan Wise told Radar Online. “After serving a month or so in a halfway house, he will transition to home confinement, possibly for the last two weeks of his sentence.”

According to the federal prison consultant, there will be no substances allowed, and there will also be drug testing once Mike, 37, is sent to the halfway house. “This will last until his actual release date in September. Then he will start his supervised release, which is similar to probation.”

Luckily, Mike has been leading a sober lifestyle for over three years, so these regulations shouldn’t be an issue for the MTV star. As fans know, he has been serving an eight-month prison sentence for tax evasion. His official release date is reportedly set for September 18, 2019.

The Jersey Shore star previously opened up about his road to “recovery” in a YouTube video released via his Twitter page on February 7. Mike said it took him until his thirties to realize that he had an “obsessive” personality. “Any substance I was going to do to excess, what you have to do is change your behaviors from negative ones to positive ones, slowly one day at a time,” he said. Mike also thanked his wife, Lauren Sorrentino (née Pesce), for being a “great support system.”

On July 21, Lauren posted a stylish new photo of herself with the caption, “Waiting for my husband to get out like.” Of course, she is looking forward to their highly anticipated reunion!
