Mel B Is ‘Upset’ Victoria Beckham Didn’t Support the Spice Girls Tour: ‘It Is a Bit Disappointing’
She’s not happy. Melanie Brown — a.k.a Mel B — from the Spice Girls said in an interview with Good Morning, Britain that she’s not pleased fellow former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham didn’t show up for any of the concerts. On June 18, the 44-year-old told the hosts she didn’t even expect Victoria, 45, to participate with the others, she was just hoping their former bandmate would make an appearance in the crowd at some point.
“I expected her to come and just say hi at least. Not even on stage, just as an audience member supporting,” Mel said on the show Tuesday, not long after the final tour show in London on Saturday, June 15. “I’m sure she has her reasons for not … I’ve already said, ‘Yeah, I was upset,’ I still am a little bit. It is what it is and us girls, we all support each other no matter what.” She also made sure to point out, “No [it’s not a rift]. We’re all adults, we all have to respectfully get on with whatever. But it is a bit disappointing, let’s put it that way.”
Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) all participated in the tour with Mel, who uses the stage name of Scary Spice. Victoria — or Posh Spice — was the only original member who did not take part in the concert series. (Perhaps she was too busy hanging out with her hubby, David Beckham, and their beautiful kids?)
But as Mel noted, it doesn’t seem like there’s any sort of issue between Posh and the rest of the girls. On May 25, she wrote on Instagram, “Good luck to the girls today as they start their tour! x VB #SpiceGirls #FriendshipNeverEnds @EmmaLeeBunton @TheRealGeriHalliwell @OfficialMelB @MelanieCMusic.” She added the caption along with a throwback photo of all the Spice Girls back in the day. Feel old yet?
