New Childhood Photos of Meghan Markle With Her Father Thomas Resurface Following Royal Baby’s Birth
Oh hey, young Meghan Markle. New childhood photos of the Duchess of Sussex have resurfaced following the birth of her son — including several with her father.
The shots — provided by Thomas Markle, 74, during his interview with The Sun — were released hours after Meghan, 37, and her husband, Prince Harry, announced the name of their baby boy.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor,” the couple’s Instagram account revealed on Wednesday, May 8. “This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion.”
After Buckingham Palace confirmed his estranged daughter welcomed Archie into the world on May 6, Thomas released a statement to the outlet. “I’m delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well,” he said. “I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity and honor.”
Thomas’ statement was surprisingly kind, unlike in the past when he publicly slammed his daughter and other members of the royal family with outrageous allegations. The former lighting director continued, “God bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and God save the Queen.”
Other members of her family, however, haven’t been so nice. Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, reacted to news of her nephew’s birth on DailyMail TV on May 7. “What I think is incredible is that it’s a great moment historically, and although the adults have a lot of water under the bridge, I would really like to see everyone reach out.” She also noted, “I’m already an aunt and am lucky enough to have Thomas and Tyler as my nephews. I spent a lot of time with them when they were babies and I love them. Family is family.”
