Just one day following the birth of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son, the Duchess’ estranged half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., is calling her out. “She should let the family come over and meet the new baby,” he told one U.K. publication on Tuesday, May 7.

“Hopefully she won’t be unfair and withhold him from everybody,” the 53-year-old continued. “I hope she’ll reach out and make the baby a part of everybody’s life.”

Thomas went on to explain that the birth of the royal baby could potentially heal their family’s troubled relationship. “Hopefully this baby will help mend the family rift,” he expressed. “We’d all love to meet the baby and become a part of his life — especially my dad.”

Meghan, 38, and her father, Thomas Markle Sr., are seemingly not on speaking terms following a number of highly publicized scandals — including Thomas releasing a private letter allegedly written by the former Suits actress to the press. Even so, Thomas Jr. is optimistic that parenthood will change Meghan’s perspective.

“I’m hoping that becoming a mother will open up her eyes and shed light on what family means,” he said. “Maybe she will see the importance of family now — and open up to my dad and let him be part of the baby’s life.”

As for Thomas Sr.’s reaction to his grandson? Surprisingly, the 74-year-old has yet to throw any shade. “I’m delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well,” he said in a statement to The Sun on Monday, May 6.

“I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity and honor.”
