RHOC’s Meghan Edmonds Thinks Jim Was Planning Divorce: ‘He Was Just Waiting to Pull the Trigger’
She’s speaking out. Real Housewives of Orange County alum Meghan King Edmonds is getting candid about how she’s coping with her split from Jim Edmonds in an explosive new interview released on Monday, November 4. The Bravo alum revealed that she thinks her former flame was planning to get a divorce all along, but was simply “waiting” for the right moment to take action.
Meghan, 35, said she found out online that he filed paperwork to end their marriage and it came as a huge shock. “Divorce had been discussed as something that could be possible, but I truly thought he could change and work through his demons,” the reality star told Us Weekly, less than two weeks after their split was announced to the world on October 25.
“Divorce never really crossed my mind. I had to find a divorce lawyer in a matter of hours. He filed so quickly that it seems to me (and others) it had been ready to go and he just was waiting for an event to happen so he could pull the trigger.”
Jim and Meghan have been married since 2014 and they share three children together, their daughter, Aspen, and twin sons, Hart and Hayes.
The former MLB star, 49, also recently spoke out after being accused of cheating on Meghan with one of the family’s four nannies: Carly Wilson. Jim and Carly both denied having an affair, but Meghan still is upset at how they handled the ordeal.
“I only ever privately alleged that Carly and my husband had an inappropriate relationship. It was Carly, Jim, and Jim’s daughter Hayley who repeated references such ‘allegations’ in the media and blew up this story,” Meghan told Us.
“This is the very first time I have spoken to the media in the wake of this devastating scandal. Also, is it kind to secretly hang out with your boss’ husband at a bar until 1:30 a.m. and then delete all texts between the two of you? Is that putting my children first?” she said, while referencing the message Carly posted on Instagram in the wake of the controversy.
Meghan even admitted that she really “wanted to work things out” after Jim’s previous sexting scandal this summer. At that time, Jim owned up to having “engaged in an inappropriate conversation” with another woman, but said it didn’t go any further.
“Instead of taking accountability, becoming transparent and making sacrifices to heal the hurt he caused me, he went the exact opposite direction and instead became a victim,” Meghan said.
The reality TV personality also called out Jim for his recent interview, where he said that he was “saddened tremendously” that his estranged wife was hurting.
“I have to say that when he gave the ‘nice’ interview a few days ago, he was completely speaking for me. At that time I had not exchanged one text message with him and I have still not spoken to him on the phone,” Meghan claimed.
“Even when I make an unassuming post on Instagram, he hurls insults at me for a battery of made-up indiscretions. I’m sick of the abuse and I won’t engage anymore — and I don’t have to,” she added.
While giving an update about her post-split life, Meghan confirmed that she has no interest in working things out with him at the moment. As far as her prenup goes, the RHOC alum said that she did sign one, but it “doesn’t pertain to child support or custody.”
