Jim Edmonds Accused of ‘Having an Affair’ With Nanny Before He Filed for Divorce From Meghan King
Their drama is boiling over. Jim Edmonds was accused of having an affair with the family’s nanny, and the week of fighting that followed seemingly led to his divorce from his wife of five years, Meghan King Edmonds. News broke that the Real Housewives of Orange County stars were calling it quits on October 25, and a source revealed exclusively to Us Weekly that the confrontation was the final nail in the coffin of their marriage.
Meghan, 35, allegedly confronted both her former baseball player husband, 49, and their longtime employee of sleeping together before he filed for divorce. Both parties denied the allegations to her, but it led to a week of nonstop fighting before Jim filed for divorce one day after their 5-year anniversary. The duo shares three children — daughter Aspen, 2, and 16-month-old twin boys, Hayes and Hart.
“The nanny is someone who has worked for them for years and is like family,” a source told the outlet. The nanny is one of four they have in their employment, plus one who lives with them full-time. “During the argument with Jim, Meghan called the cops, but nothing came of it. Jim didn’t put his hands on her. The police chalked it up to a verbal dispute. No arrests were made.”
“Meghan and Jim have been fighting. The latest fight began when he went to a recent hockey game and she began interrogating him about who he went with,” one source told Us Weekly about their split.
Meghan and Jim have been struggling for some time. Their divorce comes just four months after he was in hot water with his wife because of cheating allegations. He denied these rumors and called his actions a “lapse in judgment.”
“I engaged in an inappropriate conversation with this person. At no time was there any type of relationship or physical contact,” Jim confessed in a statement to Us on June 13. “Absolutely none. This is someone trying to profit from my name. I am aware she has done this to others in the past.”
The retired athlete further claimed that his relationship with his wife was fine before the incident. “Clearly, I made a very poor decision to expose myself and my family to this type of person. For this, I am truly sorry and sought forgiveness from my wife,” the statement explained. “I’m outraged over the intent to ruin my family and intend to take legal action. We were never having any problems in our marriage. My attorney is in possession of documents wherein this person has admitted fabricating large portions of her ‘story.'”
Just before the retired MLB player filed for divorce, Meghan acknowledged that they were taking things “day by day” during an interview with The Daily Dish on October 24. “I think after such a breach of trust, it’s so hard to rebuild from there,” she admitted. “And so to focus on the two of us as a couple, is really hard.”
