Telling the truth! Even though Mariah Carey is dating her backup dancer Bryan Tanaka, she revealed she actually hasn’t been intimate with many men during her time in the spotlight.

“I haven’t had that many, but there has been a variety pack,” she told Cosmopolitan in an interview published on Tuesday, July 9. “I’ve only been with five people in my life, so I’m kind of prude, honestly, compared to most others in the field.”

The 49-year-old was married to Sony Music boss Tommy Mottola from 1993 to 1998 and then tied the knot with Nick Cannon in 2008 — the former flames share twins Moroccan and Monroe, both 8, together. However, her relationship with Tommy wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies.

“You might want to picture a child bride,” she confessed, referring to their 20-year age difference. “There was a conscious effort to keep me as this all-American, whatever that means, girl. It was very controlled. There was no freedom for me as a human being. It was almost like being a prisoner.” After the couple split, Tommy, 69, called the relationship “wrong and inappropriate.”

Luckily, the “We Belong Together” crooner is able to coparent with Nick after they parted ways in 2016. “People don’t know she is such a nourishing and giving individual,” the MTV star told In Touch in February 2018. “I have never seen someone so giving. [Mariah] remembers everyone’s birthday, favorite color — she’s like one of those types of people, always sending cakes, flowers and balloons.”

The Drumline alum couldn’t stop praising his ex-wife, either. “She’s an amazing, outstanding, top-of-the-line mother,” he exclaimed. “It’s like Mary Poppins is your mom.”

Meanwhile, it seems like things are going well with her current beau. In May, Bryan, 36, gushed about the blonde beauty after she won the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards. “I can’t express how happy I am for you,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “You work so hard, wear so many hats, are the best mommy and you do it all with elegance and grace. Watching your performance and acceptance speech brought me to tears. Happy tears. Tears of joy and proudness. You cease to amaze me, and I’m just so happy for you! You deserve this and so much more!”

He added, “This was a long time coming, but God planned it this way. Your journey, your festive spirit and your enduring love will be forever inspiring. I love you. Congratulations, ICON!!!”

Well, it’s safe to say Mariah is doing alright in the love department these days.
