Kim? Is that you? Kim Kardashian is under fire, per usual, and this time people are targeting her ultra-edited 90s vibe in her Matte Smoke and Matte Cocoa collections for KKW Beauty.
On Monday, August 5, the makeup mogul, 38, announced the launched of her new grunge collection, but it wouldn’t be a Kar-Jen promo without a little controversy. Fans were quick to notice that Kim didn’t quite look like herself as she posed in 90s glam inspired by Gianni and Donatella Versace.
“So photoshopped you don’t even look yourself anymore, Kim,” read one comment, while another stated, “Umm … Kim is so stunning, but this doesn’t look like her.” Nestled between comments complimenting her look and stating that Gianni himself would be proud, accusations of photoshop still rolled through. “Am I the only one who didn’t recognize sis for like a good 10 seconds?” and “Kim, is that you? Seriously?” wrote several users.
Kim is no stranger to a scandal, and just recently received major backlash after the launch of her shapewear brand due to its controversial name, Kimono. The star was accused of cultural appropriation by associating her shapewear line with traditional Japanese garb and even tried to trademark the name of the historic artifact. After a tirade of angry social media users gave Kim a lesson in cultural sensitivity, the law student announced plans to change the name.
“My brands and products are built with inclusivity and diversity at their core and after careful thought and consideration, I will be launching my Solutionwear brand under a new name. I will be in touch soon. Thank you for your understanding and support always,” Kim wrote in a tweet. The reality star has yet to comment on the photoshop allegations from her recent makeup launch, but we know she will in typical KKW fashion.
