Jon Gosselin Says Son Collin Has ‘PTSD’ After Spending 3 Years in ‘Special Needs’ Treatment Facility
This is awful. Jon Gosselin, formerly of Jon and Kate Plus 8 fame, spoke to DailyMailTV following the lifting of a 10-year gag order and claimed that his son Collin Gosselin has been left mentally impacted by his mother and Jon’s ex-wife, Kate Gosselin. He said Collin, 15, only has ADHD and “has never been diagnosed with any known medical condition” — but that Kate, 44, sent him to an away program at a treatment facility for children with special needs anyway. Jon, 42, alleged that Collin was “caged” for three years and now has PTSD as a result.
“I know my children have suffered abuse and I know one day they’re going to tell their own story,” Jon said. “And sadly enough, I know what PTSD is. It’s really upsetting.” The father of eight also said his son accused Kate of abuse to a mandated reporter several times.
The former reality TV dad claimed that when Collin was sent to an adolescent behavioral unit, he was not informed ahead of time. After, he got a letter from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) revealing it had received a report of suspected child abuse involving Collin and it was being investigated. He alleged that he was sent “50 to 60” similar letters from the DHS over several years.
Jon said he eventually received a letter from his son that was smuggled out of the facility by the child’s roommate asking his dad for help. “She was abusive to me after I left your house,” Collin allegedly wrote in a letter The Daily Mail obtained. “I’m counting on you to get me out of here … Please come FAST. I love you, help me, BYE.” Jon also claimed that his ex-wife only visited their son in the facility three times during his years there.
Now, Jon has custody of both Collin and one of his daughters with Kate, Hannah. He also alleged that his ex was mentally abusive to Hannah and “alienated” her. Jon claimed he doesn’t have contact with his other kids. “I think Kate has really poisoned my children’s minds against me,” he said. “She’s put stuff in their minds about my personality. I never cheated on my wife, I’m not a monster, I love my children more than anything … I want the family unit together, I even want to co-parent … but my kids have suffered so much. Who’s going to defend them?”
