Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard Go On ‘Last-Minute Vacation’ After He Shared Behind-the-Scenes Family Drama
Escaping to the sandy shores! Jill Dillard (née Duggar) and husband Derick Dillard went on a wonderful “last-minute vacation,” she revealed in a new post on Instagram. The Counting On alum said they had a blast hitting the beach, weeks after he shared behind-the-scenes tea about her family’s TLC reality show.
The mom of two, 29, didn’t disclose where they ventured off to, but fans began speculating they visited Gulf Shores in Alabama.
“Can’t wait to see!!” cousin Amy King (née Duggar) replied in the comments on Thursday, August 20, with a pink heart emoji. “Happy ya’ll got away and just enjoyed time together.”
Just last month, Derick, 31, shared some surprising news about Counting On, claiming his spouse’s little sister Joy-Anna Forsyth (née Duggar) and husband Austin Forsyth also quit the show after he and Jill made their exit. Joy, 22, and Austin, 26, have not confirmed or denied the rumors they left the series.
Back in 2017, Derick and Jill departed from the show and viewers thought he was given the boot because of his transphobic comments about fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings, however the father of two later claimed that wasn’t the reason why. The law student said he and Jill voluntarily quit and were persuaded by the network and his father-in-law, Jim Bob Duggar, to stay longer than they desired.
While new season 11 episodes were airing, Derick took to Twitter with more surprising revelations. “From what we’ve seen, [Counting On is] not accurate at all,” the former TV personality wrote in July. “Maybe I’ll start a livestream during episodes, critiquing what is really going on in real-time.” He also responded to some fans in the comments and alleged the show was still under “[Jim Bob’s] control.”
“We were humiliated and threatened when we first tried to not film,” the reality star claimed. “Now, it’s not dependent on us anymore to keep the show going because more kids got married, so [it was] more OK if we quit,” he added.
Amid the feud between Derick and Jim Bob, Jill has remained neutral because she wants to “stay out of it,” an insider exclusively told In Touch in May.
“It’s no secret that Jim Bob doesn’t approve of his son-in-law, but he does love his daughter Jill, and he will stand by her choices,” the source claimed. “Jill and her parents are on good terms. She chats with them all the time.”
