As any Counting On fan can tell you, Michelle, Jim Bob, and the rest of the Duggar clan often refer to child discipline as "training" — even Jessa Duggar. When a fan recently criticized the 25-year-old mom-of-two for “training” her sons, Spurgeon, 2, and Henry, 12 months, she offered a heated clap-back. Check it out in the video above!

While it remains uncertain exactly what type of "training" the fan found issue with, the Duggars have drawn criticism in the past for a myriad of parenting "fails." (Remember that time Jill Duggar used a tortilla to shield her son Samuel’s face from the sun?) And it’s been speculated that the conservative reality TV family abides by the teachings explained in To Train Up a Child — Child Training for the 21st Century, an evangelical Christian guide to parenting written by Michael and Debi Pearl.

One of the methods in the book is the controversial parenting technique known as “blanket training.” According to the Pearls, the practice entails placing a baby on a blanket and if they attempt to roll over or crawl off the edge, parents are instructed to hit their child with a flexible ruler or another instrument. After a while, the child will learn not to venture off the blanket.

In December 2015, Jill, 26, raised eyebrows after she posted (and then deleted) several snaps of her firstborn son, Israel, now 2, wrapped in a blanket while appearing to be screaming loudly. Many fans interpreted the photos as confirmation that the Duggars do indeed use blanket training on their children.
