Not here for the hate! Jessa Seewald (née Duggar) shared a video tutorial about cutting her son Henry‘s hair and pretty quickly had a couple of trolls in the comments criticizing her decision to do the task on her own.

“If you’re looking for a simple tutorial for cutting your little boy’s hair, I made this video for you!” Jessa, 27, began her caption. “Do not be intimidated! You can do this! It’s not as complicated as it might seem. While they’re young, I’m not giving them a super short buzz because I prefer a more carefree, classic, little boy look. Trimming up the hair around the ears and along the neckline really helps to give it a nice fresh look, and from there I taper out to leave more length on top.”

Someone on Instagram then commented, “How about letting the professionals do it! like the ones who went to school and do this for a LIVING.” The Counting On star quickly clapped back, “I get my hair cut by a professional at least 2x a year — but I love cutting hair for my husband, my boys and my bros, and they love that they don’t have to pay to get it done. It’s great for all of us to branch out and learn new skills whenever we can!” Nice comeback!

A different person also wrote in the comments, “Seriously why on earth would you do this???? Just take [your] boys to the barbershop.” Jessa responded to that reply as well and wrote, “Sometimes it’s fun to DIY and learn something new. ❤️ We had a leaky toilet about a month ago, and we didn’t end up needing to call a plumber because we watched a YouTube video, ordered a part and were able to do it ourselves. Of course, we can’t always DIY, and sometimes we call in the professionals.”

For the most part, the reality TV mama’s followers defended her decision. “Why does it matter who cuts or does their hair? She does a really good job and I don’t hear nobody complaining about her cuts so why ask such a thing?” one follower wrote. “If her family likes the way she cuts their hair why spend [a lot] of money going to a hairdresser?” Fair question!

Honestly, if Jessa cutting her family’s hair works for them, who cares? There are plenty of other things the Duggars could be criticized for — this seems like a weird hill to die on to us.
