It seems like school isn’t the only public institution that Jacob Roloff has protested. The former Little People, Big World star, who dropped out of high school and decided against going to college because he thought he “could learn a lot more for a lot less,” has apparently had other troubles with the public sector. In fact, his rebellions have even led to his license being suspended. Recently, Radar Online revealed that 21-year-old had two unfortunate run-ins with the cops that lead to him temporarily losing his license.

The problems stemmed from when he was caught speeding twice, Radar reports. They were able to obtain records from Washington County in Oregon that showed that Jacob was stopped once in February 2014 and given a $260 ticket. He also had to go to court, where he pleaded no contest, and the judge dismissed the case. But when he was caught speeding again in May 2015, he skipped his court date — and when the DMV was notified, they suspended his license.

Guess he should’ve gone to court the first time, because fighting the suspension ended up involving even more time within the judicial system. In June 2015, he had to pay $941 in fines — almost $1,000. Two months later, his license was reinstated and the case was dismissed, but that whole affair couldn’t have been easy on his bank account. It certainly didn’t help that, after leaving his family’s reality show, he wasn’t pulling in those TLC paychecks anymore. But that was just one more thing the 21-year-old had rebelled against.

“For the sake of ‘the episode’ and ratings I’ve seen a lot of STORYLINES drawn up (loosely) about our lives,” he wrote on Instagram in 2016. “When I was standing here, behind the scenes and watching it from an outside perspective I just couldn’t stop laughing. Laughing at how hard the producers have to try to get us to follow the talking points, and at how ridiculous the talking points are… Noticing how the agenda of the crew doesn’t work well with the health & happiness of our family is what made me decide quite a while ago that I would not be a part of it as soon as I was able.”

He went as far as to say, “The family that is filmed is not my family. They are the Roloff Characters and I have scarcely anything in common with them, nor do I want to be a character myself.”

These days, though, Jacob seems to have settled down. Though he hasn’t rejoined his family on their show — and we doubt he ever will after that strong of a statement — he doesn’t seem to have had any legal trouble lately. And he and fiancée Isabel Rock seem more than happy together. He’s frequently fawning over her on his Instagram, posting captions like, “She’s gorgeous, and gonna be my wife. Wow.” They seem to be weathering the storm and smoothing over all the bumps in the road together, whether it’s Jacob’s rebellious past or Izzy’s current car troubles.
