TLC’s New Show ‘Hot & Heavy’ Documents Love Stories of Mixed-Weight Couples: When to Watch and More

Love comes in many shapes and sizes. TLC’s highly anticipated new reality show about mixed-weight couples, Hot & Heavy, will be airing on Tuesday, January 7. The series will document the ups and downs of three couples: Joy and Chris, Kristin and Rusty as well as Adrianna and Ricardo as they deal with scrutiny over their romances, tough health issues and more.

The show has faced backlash in recent months because it’s about “men who love plus-size women” and not the other way around, but the stars say they are proud to be featured on the series. “We are a normal couple. We have normal everyday lives, normal everyday struggles just like everybody else. But a lot of people don’t see us as a normal couple,” Kristin told The Post.

Adrianna also spoke out about the new reality show, noting how it’s uncommon to see people on television that are in a relationship like them.

“You see it in the media all the time — larger men who are with typically attractive women … You see it on sitcoms and in cartoons like The Simpsons and Family Guy,” she revealed to the outlet, before drawing a comparison. “Where do you see couples that are like us with a larger woman? It’s really underrepresented.”

So, what’s each of their stories? Kristin and her boyfriend, Rusty, have been enjoying married life for two years and they are hoping to expand their family. On future episodes, viewers will see them discuss the possibility of her getting gastric bypass surgery in order to have a baby.

As far as Joy and Chris, they seem to be be head over heels about each other and optimistic they are both in it for the long haul after three years together. “I love every inch of Joy,” he said in the trailer. However, some people think his leading lady won’t be able to keep up with his “adventurous lifestyle.”

When it comes to Ricardo and Adrianna, the dynamic duo met on Instagram and now, they have their own child together, Eli. Ricardo moved closer to her after only a month and she got pregnant by surprise. He keeps her confidence high, but they also endure their fair share of criticism. Despite the nay-sayers, it looks like they are still going strong!

TLC’s new series Hot & Heavy premieres January 7 at 10 p.m. ET.
