Where Are the 'Gypsy Sisters' Now? What They're Doing Today

It’s been eight years since Gypsy Sisters aired its final episode, but fans of the show are still wondering where the cast is now. Although most have remained largely out of the spotlight, others have gotten married, had more babies and experienced recent run-ins with the law.

The show’s cancellation was announced in July 2015 due to dwindling ratings. Reports stated that TLC felt it was time to move on. However, legal and animal cruelty issues also seemed to be the cause of the cancellation. Mellie Stanley — the youngest of the sisters — reportedly got into a fight with her then-boyfriend, Skott Vuncannon, over his inability to help pay the bills. The fight escalated quickly, and when Mellie’s puppy barked, her boyfriend reportedly picked the dog up and threw it against the wall, killing it.

Nettie Stanley

Nettie starred on Gypsy Sisters alongside her sisters, Mellie Stanley and JoAnn Wells. These days, she keeps a lower profile and prefers to spend time with her nine children — Heath, Albert, Dallas, Nuckie, Destiny, Chasitie, Huey, Sheila, and Kat. The reality star mama has been married three times, most recently to Huey Stanley. The duo renewed their vows in 2014 after ten years of marriage.

On January 18, 2023, Nettie and her husband were arrested and taken into custody in West Virginia for conspiracy and fraudulent schemes. Their bail was set at $13,000, and they bonded out the next day.

Kayla Williams

Kayla married Douglas Cooper in October 2017, but the marriage didn’t last long. She then tied the knot with Benny Small in 2018, and they appear to still be together now. She lives in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with Benny and her five children — Danielle, Kayla (Sissy), Richard, Lexi and George. Danielle and Sissy have kids of their own, as well. Kayla posts on Instagram frequently and has been advertising a series called Gypsy Matchmakers. Sadly, Cooper died at the age of 37 in March 2023.

Mellie Stanley

Mellie — the so-called black sheep of the family — was arrested in December 2017 for theft by deception, criminal possession of forged instrument, and unlawful access to a computer. Law enforcement revealed that Mellie allegedly pulled off a massive coupon scam at Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us, and revealed that she and her now ex-husband, George Lee Jr., used counterfeit coupons to purchase $18,000 worth of items at both stores.

Now, Mellie is focused on motherhood with her four children — Richard Stanley, Brandy’Wyne Picolo, Divinity Lee and Serenity Faye West.

JoAnn Wells

JoAnn — Nettie and Mellie’s sister — has always been very much the opposite of Mellie. Like a typical middle child, JoAnn was widely considered the good-natured one of the bunch and often found herself in the middle of her sisters’ drama. She’s fairly private these days and hasn’t posted on her Facebook page since 2017.

Annie Johnston

Oops! Although JoAnn has largely remained out of the spotlight, the same can’t be said for Annie Johnston. The former reality star was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including Exploitation of an Elderly or Disabled Person’s Trust back in January 2017.

At the time, it was reported that Annie was released after her cousin, Mellie, posted her $400 bond. Since then, however, Mellie’s niece Dallas claimed it wasn’t Mellie who footed the bill, but it was actually TLC.
