She’s Here! Ed Sheeran’s Wife Cherry Seaborn Gives Birth to Baby No. 1: ‘Mum and Baby Are Doing Amazing’

Congrats! Ed Sheeran and wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed baby No. 1. The Suffolk native gave birth to their newborn baby girl, who they named Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.

“Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you … ” the singer, 29, began his message on Instagram. “Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter — Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x.”

The couple stayed hush-hush about their baby news and never officially announced they were expecting or the due date. Despite keeping her pregnancy completely under wraps, the “Shape of You” artist and Cherry, 28, were “on cloud nine” before the arrival of their sweet baby. “Ed and Cherry have been celebrating privately, with family and close friends,” an insider exclusively told Life & Style in August 2020.

With Cherry’s due date fast approaching, the low-key couple — who got married in 2018 — didn’t “see the point” of creating a lot of hoopla surrounding their baby news “until the timing is right.” Basically, the first-time parents had their hands full getting ready for the arrival of their little one.

“They’re busy preparing for their bundle of joy and have just completed the nursery,” added the insider. “Ed’s even added some musical touches to it and can’t wait to buy the baby its first guitar!”

Although having a child amid the global coronavirus pandemic doesn’t seem like it would be ideal, Ed and Cherry weren’t “stressing over” it. “They’re both very easy going and are taking it all in their stride,” the insider gushed. “Ed’s taken some time off to spend time with Cherry and the baby. He doesn’t want to miss out on any of the milestones and will definitely be a hands-on dad.”

Ed has always been excited about having a family with the pro hockey player. “I’m ready, let’s go — tour bus babies, little fat, chubby babies that just walk around,” he told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe in January 2017. 

When it comes to his romance, he’s all in on Cherry, whom he met at Thomas Mills High School in England. “This has been the first time I’ve ever actually had the time to fall in love properly,” the musician added. “I’ve always got into relationships very passionately — I’m a redhead and also Irish.”
