The Duggar family proudly revealed they are visiting Honduras to do missionary work in a new post via social media on Dec. 4, sparking controversy amongst some fans. It didn’t take long for many of their followers to take to the comment section and slam them for “forcing their religion or lifestyle” on others. Watch the video above to see the photos they posted and don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

“We have arrived in Central America and we are so excited about what the Lord is doing here,” the caption read from the Duggar family’s Instagram and Facebook pages. Jim Bob, Michelle, Jana, James, and Jennifer, along with some friends, were all smiles while posing for a photo in front of a sign that read, “Bienvenidos A Honduras.” Several nay-sayers expressed their outrage at the brood, making sure to explain exactly what rubbed them the wrong way. “Please leave the locals alone. They have their religion,” one fan wrote, while another added, “This is just nuts.”

A third argued: “[Honduras] can teach us a thing or two.” Several other commenters went back and forth in a heated debate. “I don’t understand missionary work in already Christian countries. What do they do?” one asked about what the Duggar family was accomplishing before another responded, writing: “Try to convert people to the ‘proper’ form of Christianity. It’s crazy.” Jill and her husband Derick Dillard previously traveled to Central America with their son Israel to do missionary work, and Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo began courting shortly after a ministry trip there in 2015.

Some fans did have the Duggar family’s back to the fullest, blasting those who they felt were only trying to stir the pot. “Such negative comments. I don’t see any of you taking time or doing anything to help those in need here,” one wrote. A different commenter even claimed to have first-hand experience. “I have personally been on mission trips with the Duggars to this exact location and with the exact organization. No one is encouraging and ‘helping’ Honduras to come to America. Rather the organization helps people get on their feet and thrive where they are.”
