What gives? A photo of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan (née Markle) was noticeably missing from Buckingham Palace during Queen Elizabeth’s recent meeting with the High Commissioner of Grenada on Tuesday, October 22, sparking all sort of fan theories. The framed portrait of Meghan and Harry was last spotted on a table in the Queen’s audience room in July, but now it’s clearly gone in new photos that surfaced online.

In the recent snap of the audience room, all we can see is the photo of Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, as well as a portrait of William and Harry in their military uniforms. It’s hard to say what happened to the photo of Meghan and Harry, as it could have been moved to a different spot or perhaps placed in another room.

Another guess is the queen tried to respect the couple’s wishes to stay out of the spotlight when possible, especially after the release of an emotional ITV documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, which aired in the U.K. on Sunday, October 20. In the special, Meghan and Harry open up about the scrutiny they’ve endured in recent months.

“It’s hard. I don’t think anybody could understand that,” Meghan vented. “In all fairness, I had no idea, which probably sounds difficult to understand here, but when I first met my now-husband, my friends were really happy because I was so happy, but my British friend said to me, ‘I’m sure he’s great, but you shouldn’t do it because the British tabloids will destroy your life.'”

“And I very naively — I’m an American, we don’t have that there,” the former actress continued. “‘What are you talking about, that doesn’t make any sense.’ I didn’t get it. So it’s been complicated.”

Harry also said that he’s had a tough time adjusting to the microscope that’s been put on their relationship. “Look, part of this job and part of any job, like everybody, means putting on a brave face and turning a cheek to a lot of the stuff. But again, for me and for my wife, of course, there’s a lot of stuff that hurts — especially when the majority of it is untrue,” the royal explained.

Meghan and Harry have certainly gone through a lot as a couple, but they’ve managed to come out stronger. The dynamic duo tied the knot in May 2018 and they are now the proud parents of a precious son named Archie.

It looks like we’ll have to wait and see if their portrait ends up back on the table down the line!
