Really, guys. Again? Kate Middleton and Prince William are getting roasted for Meghan Markle’s birthday wish just weeks after trolls attacked the American royal for her note to Prince George.
On Sunday, August 4, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 37, took to Instagram to post a photo of their family in honor of Meghan’s birthday. The caption read, “Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex today! 🎈.” No red flags here, though some royal die-hards beg to differ.
The image shows both royal ladies and their men, with the addition of Prince Charles. Meghan is wearing an all navy and black outfit while Kate is standing front and center in a stunning red coat — looks like we found the red flag. A slew of comments criticized Princess Kate for posting a photo that doesn’t highlight the birthday girl, 38, but herself.
“As always Kate is showing up Meghan big time here,” wrote one user. Some even thought the lady of the hour deserved her own solo shot. “Wait … and why doesn’t she have a picture of her alone? It’s “HER” birthday, right?” read one comment while another stated, “This might get me blocked but … all these royal photographers couldn’t find a pic of Meghan in the center?!?! In a brighter color???”
Although Kate was accused of taking the new royal’s thunder, on the contrary, she was also admired for her class after Meghan didn’t post a photo for George’s birthday. The new age of, “When they go low, we go high.” Despite the fact that Meghan did send a birthday wish to the 6-year-old in the comments, the trolls, of course, took aim at her message.
Several users wrote, “Go Cambridges! This is how you become the bigger person.” Another read, “Seriously all the royal accounts wished her a proper birthday wish!! Something that she couldn’t do for them!” The royals have yet to comment on the Instagram shade at this time.
