Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner Seemingly Get Laughed at Onstage at the 2019 Emmys
Don’t be rude! Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner looked stunning in sleek gowns at the 2019 Emmy Awards, where they presented the award for Best Reality TV Show Competition on Sunday, September 22. But the audience seemed to find their presence funny, and it sounded like Kim, 38, and Kendall, 23, were laughed at during their presentation speech.
The sisters walked out onstage to Sister Sledge’s 1978 classic song, “We Are Family.” Kim started the speech, and said, “Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves.” Kendall added, “Telling their stories, unfiltered and unscripted.”
But at some point, after Kim spoke, it sounded like the crowd erupted in laughter. The laughs seemed to continue as Kendall spoke.
Fans took notice, and many of them defended the reality stars. “#Emmys @KimKardashian @KendallJenner The fact that they will turn your laughs into millions of cash is funnier. You look so stunning Kim and Kendall. Highest paid model and Highest paid reality star.,” one fan wrote. Another fan commented, “Did they just laugh at Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner? Kendall’s face seemed annoyed. How sad. #Emmys.”
Kim, Kendall and the rest of their family have starred alongside each other on their longrunning E! reality TV series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, since 2007. But the family has come under fire more than once from viewers who think that their show is scripted, mostly by matriarch Kris Jenner.
Most recently, fans have been quick to point out that two of the biggest scandals the family has gone through in the past two years — Khloé Kardashian‘s ex-boyfriend and baby daddy, Tristan Thompson‘s two cheating scandals — took place shortly before the season 15 and season 16 premieres.
Kim seemed excited to be attending the Emmys this year, and she shared tweets teasing her all-black ensemble. “I’ve been to the Emmy’s twice. But this year I am presenting!” she captioned throwback photos from her two previous appearances at the awards show. “Throwback to that time @kourtneykardash and I went to the Emmy’s. She was so pregnant & we got ready in her kitchen. I fought with @MakeupByMario over this blue eye but loved it afterwards!” she wrote in another tweet.
