Color Splash’s David Bromstad is locked in a legal battle with his ex Jeffrey Glasko, who he began dating in 2004, In Touch is revealing in its new issue.
Following their 2015 split, Jeffrey filed a civil lawsuit against David for breach of an oral nuptial-like cohabitation contract and partition of the condo they shared.
In legal papers, Jeffrey alleges that David — the positive, energetic designer and Color Splash host who’s been an HGTV staple since he won Design Star in 2006 — left him emotionally and financially devastated after David got caught up in a dark world of sex and drugs.
A Miami-Dade County, FL, circuit court judge said some allegations in the lawsuit were “among the most scandalous I’ve ever reviewed” and struck the allegations from the suit.
But Jeffrey’s amended complaint — filed in December 2015 — included similarly shocking accusations. “On or about 2010, [David] began using funds shared with [Jeffrey] to pay for illicit drugs and prostitutes resulting in a loss of trust and confidence,” the legal papers charged.
Again, the judge ruled against Jeffrey, striking out the shocking allegations and eventually dismissing his breach of contract claim.
David denies all the allegations. “These salacious claims were made by a desperate person,” his lawyer, William V. Roppolo, says, adding, “The allegations are part of a lawsuit that has been dismissed in Mr. Bromstad’s favor with sanctions levied against [Jeffrey Glasko].”
Jeffrey’s attorney did not reply to a call seeking comment.
