Have you ever stopped dead in your tracks after finding out a celebrity's age? Let's be honest, some stars just appear older than they actually are. It could be because they've been around forever (Britney Spears) or because they have an old soul (Adele) — whatever the case may be, their real ages always surprise us.

Julianne Hough, who's only 28 (!), thinks she looks much younger now that she's switched up her makeup routine. Although not all of her fans agree.

“Back when I was on Dancing With the Stars at 18 years old, I think I look older than I do now,” she said in 2016. “I’ve definitely gone for a ‘less is more’ standpoint [today]. I cut back on hair and makeup and all that stuff."

The reason for cutting back on all that hair and heavy makeup? She says she thinks she looks more youthful without it.

“For me, I’m only gonna look like this this year and then I’m gonna look different next year, so might as well embrace that,” she added. “Maybe I’m just 28 and want to stay young, so I’m not wearing any makeup because it makes me look older. Maybe it’s because I feel like I’m getting older, I don’t know!”
