It was only a matter of time before the police got involved…
Local law enforcement sources in Boynton Beach, FL., tell TMZ that the police department has been made aware of the video, which shows Barbara pinning the preteen down, striking her repeatedly, and even calling her daughter a bitch. Law enforcement previously said they would stay out of it unless someone made a complaint about it — and their current involvement would suggest that that is the case.
As TMZ explains, Child Protective Services will soon be involved — as that’s the protocol to be followed when the welfare of a child is on the line.
When the video was first made public last month, Danielle defended her mother — saying that the video was maliciously released by a friend of Dani’s, who was mad that Barbara kicked her out of the house.
Danielle insisted that the video was simply the mother/daughter duo “play fighting” and that the video didn’t accurately portray what was going on between the two women.
Of course, if Danielle and Barbara didn’t have a complicated relationship — we’d have no idea who these women are. They first rose to fame when they appeared on Dr. Phil on a segment titled, “I Want to Give Up My Car-Stealing, Knife-Wielding, Twerking 13-Year-Old Daughter Who Tried to Frame Me For a Crime.”
Of course, we have also seen proof that Danielle and Barbara do have some sort of positive relationship — even if it doesn’t always shine through.
The two women first made headlines when they appeared in a local newspaper story about how Dani, who was only 4 at the time, supported her single mother when she was going through chemotherapy.
After she became famous, the 14-year-old went viral again for fighting a woman on a plane — shortly after the video became public, Danielle defended her actions by saying the woman she laid a hand on was disrespecting her mother, and she felt the need to stick up for her mom.
