Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner Take Their Kids Trick or Treating After His Relapse Confession

Days after Ben Affleck relapsed at a Halloween party, he joined his kids and his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, for some trick or treating.

Ben and Jen, both 47, seemed to be chummy as always, although sources say that the brunette beauty is “furious” over Ben’s slip up. “Ben is an addict and alcoholic and he had a full-on relapse, and it’s very serious,” an insider told In Touch exclusively. She knows what she’s dealing with here. She hates that Ben did it in public too, mainly because of their children, who are at ages where they hear things in school from other kids. Her main goal is to protect her kids.”

The actor appeared to be incapacitated after leaving the Halloween bash on Saturday, October 26. While wearing a skull mask, Ben was seen stumbling into an SUV. “Ben was so obviously drunk. His hair was really messed up, he was having trouble walking and talking and his eyes were half-closed,” an onlooker told In Touch exclusively. “He looked so sleepy and tired … I tried to talk to him at one point but he was incoherent. He just threw his arms up in the air and walked away!”

The following day, cameras caught up with the actor who confirmed he hit a bump in his sobriety. “Well, you know, it happens. It’s a slip, but I’m not going to let it derail me,” he told cameramen while outside of Jennifer’s house. He kept things moving with his signature iced coffee in hand and did not reveal if he will check into rehab.

Ben and Jen are the proud parents of Violet, 13, Seraphina, 10, and Samuel, 7. We frequently see the two photographed together, making their best efforts to coparent. Although sources said Jen is still supportive of her ex, she needs to show him the error in his ways.

“They still coparent, and will continue to do so, but Ben knows that when he relapses, things change, there are consequences,” the insider added. “Jen wants Ben at his best. Video of him stumbling around in public, that’s not it.”

Prior to Ben’s relapse, he had been in recovery for over a year. We are happy to see his family by his side. Scroll through the gallery below and see Ben’s night trick or treating.
