Jennifer Garner Is ‘Furious’ With Ben Affleck After His Sobriety ‘Slip Up’

She’s not taking this lightly. Jennifer Garner is “trying her best to be sympathetic” to her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, but she’s not pleased after seeing the video footage of him stumbling at a Halloween party over the weekend, a source tells In Touch exclusively. Jennifer thinks his sobriety is of the utmost importance, so she’s disappointed that he had a “slip up.”

“Jen is furious with Ben,” the source said to In Touch.  The actress, 47, knows how serious addiction can be and she’s not afraid to tell Ben, 47, to shape up for the sake of his well-being as well as for their kids ⁠— Violet, 13,  Seraphina, 10, and Samuel, 7.

“Ben is an addict and alcoholic and he had a full on relapse, and it’s very serious,” the insider close to the Peppermint actress continued. “She knows what she’s dealing with here. She hates that Ben did it in public too, mainly because of their children, who are at ages where they hear things in school from other kids. Her main goal is to protect her kids.”

Over the weekend, Ben was spotted partying a little too hard at the UNICEF Masquerade Ball in West Hollywood. The star was wearing a skull mask for the themed bash and appeared to be having a tough time standing in the video obtained by TMZ. Ben was joined by his new girlfriend, musician Katie Cherry, at the event.

One day after the shindig, Ben said that he wasn’t going to let the setback stop him from making progress with his sobriety. “Well, you know, it happens. It’s a slip, but I’m not going to let it derail me,” he told cameramen while outside of Jennifer’s house. The actor didn’t respond when asked if he would check himself into rehab.

Despite his recent outing, “Jen is still very supportive,” however she worries about the decisions her ex is making.

“They still coparent, and will continue to do so, but Ben knows that when he relapses, things change, there are consequences,” the insider added. “Jen wants Ben at his best. Video of him stumbling around in public, that’s not it.”
