Ben Affleck Looks Refreshed While Filming ‘Deep Water’ in New Orleans Following Sobriety Slip

He’s looking a little better! Ben Affleck was spotted filming a new movie, Deep Water, in New Orleans just weeks after he had a major slip-up in his sobriety journey. The actor was seen in the midst of shooting the film, which also stars Ana de Armas and Rachel Blanchard, on November 11, after he appeared drunk when he left the UNICEF masquerade ball at the Kimpton La Peer Hotel in West Hollywood on October 26.

“Well, you know, it happens. It’s a slip, but I’m not going to let it derail me,” the 47-year-old told cameramen of his wild night out with Katie Cherry when he was spotted outside of his ex Jennifer Garner’s house on October 27, one day after the party. Jen, 47, is apparently “trying her best to be sympathetic” to her ex-husband, a source told In Touch exclusively after his slip, but she’s disappointed and “is furious with Ben” overall.

After the Good Will Hunting actor was seen partying, he visited the Commerce Casino where an eyewitness exclusively told In Touch, “I watched him lose $60,000 in 40 minutes … Everyone was staring at him; they couldn’t believe it. He refused to fold, so people were just taking his money!”

Another source added, “Ben was so obviously drunk. His hair was really messed up, he was having trouble walking and talking and his eyes were half-closed. He looked so sleepy and tired … I tried to talk to him at one point, but he was incoherent. He just threw his arms up in the air and walked away!”

Following that episode, Ben’s loved ones want him to take it easy. “Ben’s friends have gotten together to warn him that he’s playing with fire,” a source told In Touch exclusively. “They know he’s trying to stay sober, but he’s putting himself in a dangerous situation … Ben’s buddies told him point-blank to stop drinking and gambling and to dump Katie Cherry. And if he knows what’s good for him, Ben will take his friends’ advice.”

When the actor returned to work on November 6 for the first time after his Halloween relapse, he looked fairly disheveled. At least he looks healthier and more ready to get back to the grind in these new photos. See for yourself in the gallery below.
