Ben Affleck Looks Worse for the Wear During First Day Back On Set After Sobriety Slip

Looking a little rough. Ben Affleck returned to work on November 6 for the first time after his Halloween sobriety slip-up on October 26, and he appeared to be a little bent out of shape.

The 47-year-old rolled onto set unshaven and with a case of bed-head. He sported a sweatshirt and sweatpants while he held what looked like a script. He was seen drinking his signature iced coffee and having a smoke. He appeared to be down in the dumps with a glum expression on his face.

In the days following his relapse, Ben’s friends and family have voiced concern for the actor. “Ben’s friends have gotten together to warn him that he’s playing with fire,” a source told In Touch exclusively. “They know he’s trying to stay sober, but he’s putting himself in a dangerous situation.”

Ben’s friends also aren’t a fan of his new girlfriend and his gambling habit. “Ben’s buddies told him point-blank to stop drinking and gambling, and to dump Katie Cherry,” the insider added. “And if he knows what’s good for him, Ben will take his friends’ advice.”

The night of Ben’s slip-up, on-lookers said he “was so obviously drunk,” adding, “His hair was really messed up, he was having trouble walking and his eyes were half-closed. He looked so sleepy and tired … I tried to talk to him at one point, but he was incoherent. He just threw his arms up in the air and walked away!”

Ex-wife and close friend Jennifer Garner also isn’t happy with her former flame. “Jen is furious with Ben,” another source told In Touch. The two share three children together — Violet, 13, Seraphina, 10 and Samuel, 7 — and Jen, 47, worries how Ben’s actions will impact their kids. “She knows what she’s dealing with here. She hates that Ben did it in public too, mainly because of their children, who are at ages where they hear things in school from other kids. Her main goal is to protect her kids.”

Ben took ownership of his mistake the following day after video footage of him stumbling into an SUV went viral. “Well, you know, it happens. It’s a slip, but I’m not going to let it derail me,” he told photographers outside of Jen’s home. It looks like Ben is struggling to get back on track.
