Will her family approve? Kalani and Asuelu were just one of the six couples that were introduced during the Season 6 premiere of TLC’s hit reality TV series 90 Day Fiancé, but they already are bringing the drama. The couple is already parents to a five-month-old son named Oliver and even though they’re engaged and about to embark on their journey as a family of three, not everyone in Kalani’s life is on board. She will have to convince both her dad and her sister that Asuelu is not only going to step up and be a good father and husband but that he’s not just using Kalani for a ticket to America.

Kalani, 29, explained that even though her father is Samoan, he didn’t want his daughters to be with Samoan men because he didn’t want them to struggle in life. But Kalani met Asuelu, 23, during a vacation to Samoa and ended up falling in love with him — and she even went against her family’s religious Mormon beliefs and lost her virginity to Asuelu even though they were not married. And not only did Kalani have premarital sex with Asuelu, but she also became pregnant with his child. Kalani’s family felt that it was a trap, and Kalani’s dad is especially skeptical about whether Asuelu is right for his daughter.

“I don’t really ask questions to my daughter about her fiancé because I don’t approve. But it’s too late for me to have my opinion now all I have to do is protect her,” Kalani’s dad said in his confessional. “My biggest concern is he’s only 23 years old and he’s coming from the island to the United States.”

Meanwhile, Kalani’s sister Kolini doesn’t approve of Asuelu because Kalani told her that Asuelu cheated on her during their relationship. But Kalani finally came clean and admitted that her relationship with Asuelu was off and on, and he had sex with another woman while they were broken up. But that didn’t change Kolini’s mind about her future brother-in-law and fans will have to wait to find out what happens once Asuelu arrives in the states.

90 Day Fiancé airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. on TLC.
