’90 Day Fiancé’ Star Jonathan Admits He’s Worried Fernanda Isn’t Ready To Settle Down Yet
Age ain’t nothing but a number! Season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé just premiered, and fans were introduced to new couple Jonathan Rivera and Fernanda Flores. Jonathan, 32, and Fernanda, 19, are one of the couples that have a pretty big age difference — about 13 years between them — but they aren’t letting that stop them from taking their relationship to the next level. During the season premiere, cameras followed Jonathan as he traveled from Lumberton, NC to Mexico to pick up Fernanda and bring her back to the United States using a K-1 visa (aka the fiancé visa). After they arrived in America, they will have 90 days to decide if they want to get married or if they will call off their wedding.
Jonathan described himself as a typical bachelor, who spent his 20s as a baseball player for The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and partying with lots of women. But his single life came to an abrupt halt when he was in Mexico on vacation and met Fernanda.
“I’m at the club and I see this girl walk in with a long black dress. I finally made my way to the dance floor — I swear, it’s like everything stopped. We got off the dance floor after about an hour and a half and we spent the rest of the evening talking. She was shocked I was able to speak Spanish — she thought I looked like a ‘gringo,'” he said in his confessional. “I switched my flight — ended up staying three more days and it turned out no one brings the best out of me like Fernanda does.”
Jonathan proposed to Fernanda after three months of dating long distance and even though she said yes and is moving to America to be with him, Jonathan is still very uncertain if Fernanda is ready to settle down at such a young age.
“She has a really short past so Fernanda jokes all the time that I robbed her of her youth — and yeah, I got to experience a lot in my younger days. I enjoyed that bachelor life, being alone. So Fernanda is a little more skeptical if I’m ready to leave that behind me,” Jonathan said. “The biggest fear I have in these 90 days is that Fernanda would change her mind. That, if one day, she looked at me and she said, ‘You know what? You already lived your life, sorry like, I need to live mine.'” Fans will have to tune in to find out if they make it down the aisle.
90 Day Fiancé airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. on TLC.
