She’s going from one reality TV show to the next! 90 Day Fiancé alum Evelyn Cormier documented her journey down the aisle with her husband David Vázquez Zermeño on TLC’s hit reality series 90 Day Fiancé — and now, she’ll be documenting her journey to stardom on American Idol. Evelyn has been posting hints about her participation in the upcoming season 17 of the long-running singing competition series. Evelyn first teased the big news when she posted this selfie on her Instagram on December 15, 2018.

And on Monday, February 4, she made the official announcement on Instagram!

“Tune in March 3 to watch my Idol journey begin and find out what happens next! @americanidol #americanidol #thenextidol,” the 19-year-old wrote in her caption.

Fans who watched her on season 5 of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé know that Evelyn is an aspiring singer.

“I’m a singer-songwriter. I actually sing in a band with my family,” the Claremont, New Hampshire native said in her intro.

“We started playing together when I was like 10 or 11. And then after that, I started gigging out [and] being hired at local restaurants,” she added.

Evelyn released her first EP in 2017, Ghost, and she’d been working on building her following on social media.

She explained that she had a lot of guys sliding into her DMs on Instagram. She said most of the messages she received from men were “creepy,” so she just ignored them or blocked them.

“But then a guy sent me a message and just kinda said, ‘Hey, you’re really cute and your music’s really nice. My name is David,'” she gushed.

“There was just something different about it, and I answered him back,” she continued.

And that’s how she met her husband!

Evelyn’s family was very supportive of her relationship with David, but they worried that it would get in the way of her music career.

David even tried to convince Evelyn to move away from her hometown of Claremont, away from her family band.

But eventually, David compromised with Evelyn and now it seems like he’s as supportive of her career as ever.
