No pain, no gain! That’s what stars like Kristin Chenoweth, Maria Bello, Seth Meyers and Survivor’s Ethan Zohn were thinking when they came out to support Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s sixth annual Cycle for Survival event.
Ethan, who has been battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma, rode along with his longtime girlfriend – and fellow Survivor contestant - Jenna Morasca, proving his dedication to raising awareness and finding a cure. The event, which took place at Equinox locations in NYC, Long Island, Washington D.C., Chicago, San Francisco and LA and drew nearly 10,000 participants, raised $7.7 million.
“With the dollars raised by Cycle for Survival from 2007 through 2011, we have initiated 25 clinical trials and research studies on rare cancers that might not have otherwise received funding,” said Dr. Gary Schwartz, chief of the Melanoma and Sarcoma Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. “We are incredibly grateful for this year’s record-breaking donation and are looking forward to quickly activating new studies and trials to develop new therapeutic approaches to benefit patients worldwide.”
A good deed, indeed!
