Say it ain’t so! MTV has been touting Cardi B as the opening act of the 2018 Video Music Awards on Aug. 20, but it sounds like she’s dropped out at the very last minute. Here’s why she isn’t performing.

TMZ caught Cardi walking the streets on Aug. 20, and she confirmed what they’ve already reported… that she won’t be taking the stage despite the hype. She says she isn’t feeling well, and she won’t perform until she’s back at 100%. Cardi hasn’t performed since giving birth, so that’s a huge bummer to fans, but she needs to do what’s best for her.

Lately, Cardi has proven she’s always going to pritoitize her family and baby daughter Kulture over her career. For example, she was supposed to go on tour with Bruno Mars, but she also dropped out of that because she wasn’t ready to leave her newborn baby just yet. Can you really blame her?

But don’t worry, Cardi fans. You’re still going to catch a glimpse of her (probably many times) throughout the big night. She’s nominated for a whopping twelve awards, and we’re willing to bet she’ll win more than a few. The biggest, of course, is Artist of the Year. She’s up against her collaborator Bruno Mars, Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, and Drake.

She’s also up for Video of the Year, Song of the year, Song of the Summer, and sooo many more. Let’s hope she brought a suitcase for all of those awards! Good luck tonight, Bardi!
