Tyler Baltierra Reveals He Wasn’t ‘Over-The-Moon’ About Cate’s Pregnancy: ‘We Were Using Protection!’
Despite being “devastated” by Catelynn Lowell‘s miscarriage earlier this year, Tyler Baltierra admitted on Sept. 28 that he wasn’t initially “over-the-moon” when he found out that Cate was pregnant again.
“I didn’t cry… I was shocked!” the Teen Mom OG star told Kate Casey on her Reality Life podcast. “We were using protection. We were using all levels of protection. It was not planned, at all.”
Tyler admitted that the timing honestly wasn’t great to bring a new member into their family. “[Cate] just got out of treatment. We were not ready for a baby, we were preventing it at all costs!” he continued. Still, he feels like everything happens for a reason, so this baby is a blessing.
“The fact that it happened while using protection… it was the universe saying this baby was meant to be born,” he said. “It was a big shock to me. I won’t say that I was over-the-moon excited, but after a while you get excited and happy about it.”
It makes sense, since Cate was gone for six months this year in treatment for her depression. And though Tyler missed her dearly, he admitted that her return was surprisingly hard as well. “That situation was a lot more difficult than I thought it was going to be,” said Tyler. “I thought ‘great, she’s back home, it’s going to be back to normal.’ But while she was gone I kind of got into my groove. I had a routine, and then, not to say I didn’t miss her, but when she came back it was like a big ol’ pump the brakes on everything I had going on. When she came back it was actually a lot harder than I thought. It was intense.”
But now both of them seem to have adjusted to the iea of having another baby, and they’re happier than ever to get a second chance after the miscarriage. We wish them the very best on their newest adventure!
